Twitter has suspended the English-language account used by Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, Al Arabiya reported Sunday.
The Palestinian news website Safa reported that Twitter sanctioned the terror group "without prior notice."
Hamas and the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades have several accounts hosted by the online messaging platform, all of which are used to promote anti-Israel incitement among Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as across the Arab world.
According to the Algemeiner Journal, while Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades' primary Twitter handle, "@alqassamBrigade," was suspended, its secondary account, "@qassambrigade," is still accessible.
Twitter's policy allows users to suggest the suspension of other users who abuse the service by tweeting offensive updates or content.
In a statement posted on its website, Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades blamed Israel and the United States for the social media giant's decision, claiming it had done nothing to warrant the account's suspension.
"The Qassam Brigades confirmed that they did not violate Twitter's terms of service ever, asserting that reason behind the suspension is Twitter subordination to U.S. government and 'Israel' as usual," the terror group's statement said.
"The Qassam Brigades strongly condemn the act and assert on right to freedom of speech and expression and media," the statement said.
