Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that he is most proud of his Holocaust denial.
"The name Ahmadinejad is now known throughout the world," he said, adding that denying the Holocaust broke the spin perpetrated by Western capitalist regimes.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alluded to Iran, saying, "As a country that desires peace, Israel extends its hand to all its neighbors, near and far. This hand, however, also knows how to hit hard at those who wish us harm; because without strength and security, a strength that can defeat our enemies, we won't have an existence and we won't have peace."
Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said Tuesday that Israel was "following developments in Iran after the presidential election results."
"Our policy is very clear: In one way or another, the Iranian nuclear project must be stopped. If the international community succeeds in stopping the program through diplomatic negotiations or economic sanctions, we will be the first to commend it," Ya'alon said.
"If the Iranian leadership exploits diplomatic talks to ease the economic sanctions while continuing to enrich [uranium] -- and the president-elect [Hasan Rouhani] wrote a book in which he mentioned the 'talk and enrich strategy' -- then this is something we obviously cannot accept."
