A new album that assembles images of Adolf Hitler and other Nazi-era photographs captured in 3-D went on sale in Germany late last week. In "The Face of the Dictatorship: The Third Reich in 3-D," historian and journalist Ralf Georg Reuth has gathered and selected 100 images of Hitler, Nazi soldiers and several major events from that era. The book's publication marks the first time since World War II that such a 3-D collection has been released in Germany. The author found the images in the National Library archives in Munich, where nearly 7,000 3-D images taken by Hitler's personal photographer Heinrich Hoffmann are stored, AFP reported. Hoffman published the first album of his photographs at the 1936 Olympics in Munich, while his last book of 3-D photographs was published in 1942. Around twenty albums were produced and went on sale between those years. "The first 3-D images of the Nazis came out in 1936 and they kept appearing for as long as there were victories to celebrate," Reuth told AFP. The book, published by Pendo, comes complete with 3-D glasses.
